Truly a "Mad Moment".

The Challenge.

This takes place from the 20th December 2008 to the 7th January 2009.

Our goal is to participate in the Plymouth to Banjul Rally.  For those of you that do not know what this is, its around a 4000 mile drive from Plymouth to Banjul in the Gambia, West Africa and all in the aid of charity.  Both of our team members have visited the Gambia on several occasions and have enjoyed the country immensely, despite having seen first hand the poverty of the majority of people that live there.  We feel that we are in a good position to be able to raise a significant amount of money through sponsorship to help the local charities, who in turn help those for whom even the most basics requirements of life can sometimes be so hard to afford. The motor, if it makes it to the Gambia will along with its contents be auctioned and the proceeds will benifit various local charities.  As well as this charity we also hope to raise money for the Fair Havens Hospice in Essex, England. Both team members come from an engineering background.  We both relish the thought of participating in this challenge and we cannot think of any other way of justifying to our wives why they should agree to us taking off for three weeks over Christmas and New Year in order to drive an old motor across the Sahara Desert.  This is one of the things that is on our “must do before we die” list, so here we go.
